classic_019Wow, what a couple of weeks!

First off, a big “thank you” to everyone who has emailed or called to welcome Classic Cool to the Houston airwaves. It means a lot to us, since you are the reason we have put this format together.

If you love Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall, Miles Davis, B.B. King, and Michael Buble, then Classic Cool is for you! It’s all about great music and having fun. No playlists, no consultants, no corporate dictates. Just “old school” radio, in the best possible sense of the term.

Now while we may be traditional in our outlook, we do plan to take advantage of the latest technology to bring you the music in a variety of ways.

As always, you can listen to Classic Cool over the terrestrial radio waves on KIKK, 650 AM, Monday through Friday, starting at 4pm. If you have one of the new HD radios, you can also receive our programming on KKHH HD-3. Additionally, you can also hear us via streaming audio on your computer. Just go to the Classic Cool home page and click on “Listen Now” during our regular broadcast hours.

In the near future, we will have podcasts and downloadable audio on the web site, so you can listen to Classic Cool whenever the mood strikes you. More on that soon.

It will be quite an adventure, and we’re glad that you are along for the ride. Let us hear from you – ronnie@classiccool.com or tom@classiccool.com.

Tom, who exactly are you? What do you play?

Dear Ronnie and Tom, It is sublimely wonderful to hear you both back on the air. I’ve been going through a rough time with the passing of my mom (Jean Peterson, aka “Port Arthur Red”) and the stress of teaching 9th grade math in a tough school. Every afternoon I can’t wait to get in my vehicle and crank up the AM radio!! It immediately soothes my rattled nerves and brings joy to a melancholy soul. My mother was a big fan and she is the one who taught me to love the old big band and jazz tunes. I miss her dearly and your music brings wonderful memories to my mind.

Thank you both for doing something that brings incredible happiness to thousands of people. You will probably never know the impact you are truly having.

Ron do you remember me. I called you once and told you that I lived in Sheridan, Texas. You wanted to know where Sheridan is. I asked you to play I’m Just a Gilogo (sic). You played it for me afterwards. Thanks.

It’s great to have both you guys back on the air again. Every afternoon I love to just sit outside with a cocktail and relax and hear your great music.

By the way, which one is you. Are you guy with the beard? I’ve never seen a picture of you before. Our 48th wedding anniversary was January 21st and we loved listening to you.

Also, I believe you know Deborah Haynie. She’s my wife, Melba’s, best friend. You were the DJ for a rodeo function.

Cheers!! Joe and MelbaCastillo
